The Saturday before James died he was given a tour of Goodison Park before the match against Hull and met some of the players.

The family said immediately after his death that the visit was the best day of his life.

The 10-year-old from Knowsley was hit by a bus on Speke Road, Garston on Wednesday October 23.

The Whiston Willis Primary School pupil was rushed to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital but later died from his injuries.

Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman represented the club at James’ funeral to pay their respects to the young Evertonian. They joined hundreds of mourners bidding James goodbye.

In the aftermath of his death James’s family set up a Just Giving page for Wirral Autistic Society which has so far raised over £10,000.

The family encouraged mourners to donate to the charity instead of giving flowers. They also set up the James Greenop Foundation and hope to raise £5,000 for official foundation status.

His dad Russell and Millie will be at the Liverpool Santa Dash 5k on December 1 for the foundation’s first fundraiser.
