Everton FC are pondering a £6million bid for Everton striker Nikica Jelavic from Hamburg.

The Croatian, 27, made a spectacular start to his Everton career when he scored 11 goals in his first 16 games but last season struggled for form and new manager Roberto Martinez has signed Aroune Kone from Wigan.

Hamburg sporting director Oliver Kreutz said: ‘We are dealing with it.’

Everton, meanwhile, are considering an £850,000 bid for 19-year-old French centre-back Mory Kone. The 19-year-old spent time in the youth ranks at Paris Saint-Germain, before eventually landing at Le Mans in 2009.

In other Everton FC transfer news, Blues boss Roberto Martinez’s plans to bring Wigan star James McCarthy to Goodison Park looks set to be hijacked by Tottenham.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is already thought to have registered his interest in the Ireland international and has yet to have been put off by the talked about £20m price-tag.

Finally, Everton legend Graeme Sharp believes that Roberto Martinez’s signing of Antolin Alcaraz could prove to be a shrewd piece of transfer business.

The 30-year-old, who followed the Toffees boss from Wigan, made his first appearance for his new side in their pre-season win at Accrington Stanley.
