Everton FC transfer news today sees Italian media report Samuel Eto’o has reached an agreement to sign for Sampdoria in Italy.

Eto’o signed for Everton during the summer and has scored three goals in his 14 appearances, but is apparently ready to go back to Serie A in Italy with Sampdoria ready to seal the deal.

Everton face Manchester City today with boss Roberto Martinez having defenders Antolin Alcaraz and Leighton Baines back from suspension, but James McCarthy (hamstring) is likely to miss the tie.

Centre-half Sylvain Distin (groin) is out, alongside Tim Howard (calf), Tony Hibbert (foot), Leon Osman (foot), Darron Gibson (knee) and Steven Pienaar (knee).

Finally, Phil Jagielka described how the team have been left chuckling at some of the wild rumours of dressing room bust-ups as they slide down the table.

Roberto Martinez’s men have lost their last four Premier League games heading into today’s clash with champions Manchester City.

They are just four points off the relegation zone despite being outsiders for a top-four spot before the season got underway, leading to claims about a split camp.

Jagielka said: “It’s quite amusing. You hear some weird stuff. I think the best one was that Bainesy had a fight with someone, and I don’t know if you know Baines or if you’ve seen him. He’s more a lover than a fighter.”
