DAVID MOYES still has unfinished business to carry out at Everton FC, says former Goodison Park favourite Ian Snodin.

But Liverpool FC legend Alan Hansen believes the Blues boss should quit Goodison at the end of this season.

Hansen, now a respected television analyst, used his national newspaper column to explain why he believes Moyes has taken Everton as far as he can.

“Even if Everton had won the FA Cup this season, I don’t believe it would have been enough to keep David Moyes as manager at Goodison Park beyond the end of this campaign,” he wrote.

“If he goes, Moyes will not be deserting a sinking ship. He has been loyal, committed and dedicated throughout his decade at Everton, but it really is time to move on.

“That’s why this summer seems to be the right time for him to take on a new challenge elsewhere if a top job comes up.

“His real achievement in keeping the club on an even keel will only be appreciated fully when he has gone.”

But Snodin, a rival of Hansen’s on the pitch during their playing days, disagrees with that viewpoint. And he believes Moyes can eventually bring silverware to Goodison.

“I think David Moyes loves it at Everton, I really do,” said Snodin.

“Is he going to be targeted by Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal or Chelsea this summer? I don’t think so.

“So where else is there as good as Everton, after that?

“Sunderland and Aston Villa might spend a bit more money, but they are not bigger clubs than Everton.

“Celtic might have certain emotional ties, but would you move to Scotland after what’s happened to their biggest rivals this season?

“I think David is at a fantastic club where he has a great relationship with his chairman and I honestly don’t think he will want to move on.

“He has given us 10 years where he has been different class.

“In all that time we have probably had two poor seasons.

“He will already be thinking now about what players can he bring in this summer to improve his squad.

“Yes, he will be bitterly disappointed about Saturday, but I’m sure he will already be thinking about what he needs to challenge for Europe next season and what he needs to try and win that elusive trophy.”
