EFC juror Paul McAllister: David Moyes needs to take a long hard look in the mirror and decide where his future lies

ANOTHER season will now go by where nothing substantial has been achieved.

Saturday’s result means that the whole campaign is effectively over for us. Dreams of Europe have evaporated and the only reason to keep playing now is to ensure a finish above Liverpool. After having Champions League ambitions all year, that is scant consolation at this point.

Sunderland are a team down the bottom and in transition. We should have dispatched them but again we wilted under pressure.

The game against Fulham is now near enough meaningless but Osman and Pienaar surely now cannot start. The two were undoubtedly the worst players on the pitch at the Stadium of Light and they must be dropped for their deplorable performances.

As for where we go from here? David Moyes needs to take a long hard look in the mirror and decide where his future lies.

EFC juror Darroch Mackie: It’s going to be a long summer

ON the back of some good league form, the performance at Sunderland was particularly disappointing. Whether the midweek trip to Arsenal took its toll, Everton simply never got going against a poor looking Sunderland team, barely registering a shot on goal.

Although there are still important games to come it is looking ever increasing like a sixth place finish. Whilst this still exceeds several teams with greater resources than us, it is going to lead to a long summer for Evertonians. With the distinct possibility of no European football next year then we may lose our manager and at least one key player.

If we are going to need to find a replacement for Moyes then at least we should have some transfer funds to offer a new manager, even if it is generated through player sales. As ever it is going to be crucial that both the management and playing staff are decided upon at the earliest stage possible.
