Saturday morning’s newspapers are full of verdicts and reaction on England’s 4-0 World Cup qualifying win over Moldova.

Ross Barkley made his first senior international appearance on Friday evening and his half hour cameo is described as a ‘promising debut’ in the Daily Mirror.

The Daily Times also praise Barkley on his performance, handing him a rating of seven out of 10 and saying it will prove to be a ‘memorable game’ for the 19-year-old.

England were in complete control against Moldova, so most national papers label it as a ‘quiet night’ for Everton’s defensive duo Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines.

The Liverpool Echo offer more coverage on last night’s Wembley international and include quotes from Roberto Martinez who says there is no risk of Barkley getting carried away now that he has earned his first England cap.

Away from the World Cup qualifiers, Blues boss Martinez has told the Echo that deadline day recruit Gareth Barry will have a positive influence on Everton’s younger players.

The same paper has also run an interview with the Club’s Under-21s coach Alan Stubbs who talks about the release of his new autobiography.

Elsewhere, the Independent has featured quotes from Friday morning’s press conference with Martinez who confirmed that he plans to offer defender Baines a new contract.
