With Everton’s trip to Manchester City being one of the day’s most high profile fixtures, there is plenty of pre-match build-up in Saturday’s papers.

Ahead of the meeting at the Etihad Stadium, the Liverpool Echo carries quotes from Roberto Martinez who is adamant that his Everton side have proven nothing yet and they have a long way to go before the rest of the Premier League sits up and takes notice.

Three points against City will send the Blues level with Arsenal at the summit of the Premier League table. Phil Jagielka has told the Daily Star and Daily Mirror that the Toffees’ early-season momentum has given the squad belief that they can travel down the M62 and return with a positive result to their name.

The recent form of Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has sparked much discussion in the media, and the Daily Telegraph contains quotes from Manuel Pellegrini who says he faces a ‘very difficult decision’ over whether to select the England stopper for today’s match.

Elsewhere, the Daily Mail includes a feature piece on Ross Barkley’s career which tracks the England international’s journey from a 14-year-old schoolboy through to the Everton first-team.
