Sunderland vs Everton at Stadium of Light. Sylvain Distin looks on as Everton concede late on in the 1st half..

SYLVAIN DISTIN insists Everton won’t allow the disappointment of missing out on the top four to sour the end of their season.

The Blues’ 1-0 defeat at Sunderland on Saturday was compounded by wins for Arsenal and Spurs, meaning David Moyes’ men effectively dropped out of contention for Champions League qualification with only four games of the campaign remaining.

And although Distin admits it was tough to take, he believes there is still every reason for the sixth-placed Toffees to finish this term on a high.

He said: “Winning all our games would have meant we could have kept dreaming and obviously now the dream is going a bit far away.

“We’ll see about the Europa League now but no matter what happens, we want to win every remaining game until the end of the season. We missed a good chance against Sunderland but there’s always the next game.

“I don’t think we need anything to galvanise the rest of the season. We all want the same thing which is to finish as high as possible. If we had beaten Sunderland I can promise you nobody would have sat back for the next game. The mentality here is that we want to win every game and even if some players don’t feel like that, after a few months here they buy into that mentality.”
