TIM Howard has signed a new contract to keep him at Everton FC until 2016.

The USA international goalkeeper put pen to paper on a deal this week that will see him on course to spend a decade at Goodison Park.

Howard joined Everton from Manchester United in 2006, initially on loan, and has since played more than 250 games for the Blues.

This season he moved ahead of Neville Southall in the Everton Premier League appearance chart and, also registered his first ever professional goal.

Howard, whose previous deal was set to expire in June 2014, said: “I couldn’t be happier. I’ve had a smile on my face ever since we finalised the deal.

“When you have a really good relationship in life and both sides are eager to continue and  keep that going, it’s a no-brainer.

“This hasn’t been a knockdown, drawn-out type of negotiation with meetings or anything like that. They were very happy to keep me here and I was very, very happy to stay.

“It’s a place that is home for me.”
