Everton striker Louis Saha is expected to miss the remainder of the season because of an ankle injury.
The 32-year-old picked up the injury in the 2-1 victory against Fulham on 19 March, a match in which he scored.
The Frenchman has had an operation on the injured ankle and manager David Moyes believes that Saha will miss the final eight games of the campaign.
The lay-off is a huge blow to Saha, who has had horrendous luck with injuries since joining Everton in 2008.
The former Manchester United forward has been in fine form recently, scoring nine goals since the turn of the year. He is Everton’s top goalscorer this season with 10.
Saha is the latest player to join the growing injury list at Goodison. Midfielders Mikel Arteta and Marouane Fellaini are also currently sidelined with injury.
Midfielder Jack Rodwell and defender Seamus Coleman are struggling to shake off hamstring problems in time for
Saturday’s home match against Aston Villa
while midfielder Tim Cahill is also racing to recover from a foot injury.
