Royston Drenthe

Drenthe has scored two goals for Everton in seven appearances

On-loan Everton midfielder Royston Drenthe says he wants to prove his importance at Goodison Park.

Drenthe, 24, moved on loan from Real Madrid on transfer deadline day and scored in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Fulham.

“If I can be important for the team then I’ll be really happy,” Drenthe told BBC Radio Merseyside.

“If I can score goals, then why not, I think the fans will love to see that. I have a big career looking ahead and I want to impress.”

After scoring on his Everton debut in the 3-1 win over Wigan in September, the former Feyenoord winger started his first Premier League game at Craven Cottage at the weekend.

The Netherlands international admits he has been impressed with life on Merseyside and how quickly he has managed to settle at the club.

“I’m really happy in Liverpool and the club feels such a family,” Drenthe continued.

“I feel great, I have a nice house and my family have been here from the beginning so they could help me.

“When I went to Madrid I needed two or three months settle in, but at Everton it took one week and I was settled in. I’m really happy it’s gone so fast and I can concentrate on playing in some good games.”
