Neville hails Everton team spirit

Everton captain Phil Neville says the team’s recent success is down to a strong team spirit and togetherness in the face of a lengthy injury list.

Saturday’s 3-0 win at Wolves was the side’s fourth win in six league games.

Neville told BBC Radio Merseyside: “We’re training with four or five senior players and you think how are we going to win on a Saturday?

“We’re patching players up and there’s a real togetherness. Who knows where that might take us?”

Neville added: “They’re all long-term injuries and you think to yourself we’ll have a couple back but you just can’t see it. The injury situation is bad.

“This club is renowned for producing home-grown players and we have a manager who’s not scared to put them in.

“Over the next six games why not give some of these youngsters a chance because I think the way football is going, it’s the way forward.”

Neville scored his first goal in three years at the Molineux at the weekend and was delighted with the victory.

“It’s a pleasing victory,” he continued. “It’s all about attitude, not necessarily flowing football.

“It’s about attitude and getting the three points, and at the moment we’re showing those attributes.”
