Former Everton assistant manager Alan Irvine believes David Moyes will celebrate his tenth anniversary at Goodison Park next season.

Moyes, who joined the Blues in March 2002, has been linked with a number of managerial vacancies in recent months.

Irvine told BBC Radio Merseyside: “David is very happy at Everton. He knows he’s loved by everybody.

“The fans know what a good job he’s done, so it would take a lot to get him away from there.”

Irvine, who served as Moyes’ assistant from 2002 to 2007, is currently out of work after leaving Sheffield Wednesday in February.

“David and I talk frequently, although not so frequently when things aren’t going too well.

“I was surprised how they started last season, for some reason it didn’t happen, but once again they finished very strongly and I’m sure they’ll be competing again at that top end.”

The former Toffees midfielder concluded: “It will be difficult with Manchester City and Tottenham competing with the traditional top four, but I really hope Everton start well and have their usual strong finish.”
