Everton FC’s new stadium site plans have divided opinion.

Tony Boot, chair of the club’s Fans’ Forum told the ECHO that the supporters deserved a new stadium.

He said: “Goodison is our home but it needs to be upgraded to the highest level so we compete with the other clubs.

“We all love Goodison, it’s on of the most historic stadiums in the country with the best atmosphere but we need a stadium that meets the needs of football in 2014.

“A purpose-built stadium will do this and the regeneration of the area will also benefit the community.”

But Cllr John Coyne, leader of the Liverpool Green Party believes that the scheme is very sketchy.
