Liverpool could be ready to do the unthinkable and turn the tables on Jose Mourinho by poaching Brazilian midfielder Oscar.

The Metro says that, according to reports – although they refrain from reporting just where those reports came from – Brendan Rodgers is a “huge admirer” of the playmaker.

They do, however, put something of a disclaimer on the transfer deal, by saying that “any deal would be complicated” and that Chelsea wouldn’t want to sell to a rival.

Atletico Madrid are also said to be interested and a “big cash offer” could tempt the Blues to do business.

There’s more shocks than an episode of Lost this morning as the Reds are said to be lining up another “shock move” for former Everton favourite Gerard Deulofeu.

That’s sure to upset a few Blues.

According to The Metro (yes, them again) the winger is set to be sold by Barcelona this summer after he completes a loan spell at Sevilla.

The so-called wonderkid (how long are you allowed to be a wonderkid?) isn’t wanted by the Catalan giants and Rodgers is said to be ready to make his move.

Deulofeu is a favourite at Goodison Park after a loan spell last season – but whether he’s keen on becoming the Spanish Nicky Barmby remains to be seen.

Rodgers isn’t getting it all his own way in today’s rumour mill – Bordeaux are ready to jump the queue for Yohann Gourcuff, according to TalkSport.

The Frenchman hasn’t exactly set the world alight since moving to Lyon for £16m in 2010, but that doesn’t stop the Reds, along with Arsenal and Manchester City, being linked with a deal.

Bordeaux’s owner Nicolas de Tavernost, says that player will be thoroughly enjoyed in Bordeaux.

He told L’Equipe: “Gourcuff is a player that we really enjoy in Bordeaux.

“If he is available late in the season, we will look at it carefully.”

And finally, Arsene Wenger has gone against the grain this morning refused to talk about Raheem Sterling.

The Arsenal manager did manage, however, to squeeze in that Sterling is a “top player”, you know, just because..

Wenger says he has “big respect” for Liverpool and doesn’t want to talk about one of their players just 48 hours before facing them.

Expect a £40,000,001 bid in the summer then.
