LIKE many observers I was surprised to see David Moyes make so many changes to his Everton team for the derby at Anfield.

However, despite the hugely disappointing result, the derby will be forgotten if it works in our favour tomorrow.

You never know, success against Sunderland might well mean another derby at Wembley and then you’d expect a much better Everton performance if it came to that with an opportunity to right some wrongs.

What we saw on Tuesday was two different approaches to the game from managers with different priorities.

For David Moyes, progress in the cup is simply more important than three points in the league, it’s easy to see why he’s decided that.

For Kenny Dalglish, he still has to keep Liverpool going for a Europa League spot at least, considering the money their owners have spent to achieve a high league placing.

The cliche is that managers take each game as they come, but Moyes decided he can’t afford to do that.
