MANCHESTER United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has received some backing from an unlikely source this week.

The towering Belgium international, a £27million summer signing from Everton, has failed to hit the ground running at Old Trafford, but according to one defender, that could all be about to change.

Duane Courtney, captain of Tamworth and former opponent of Fellaini, said: “Fellaini is quality, I am so sure he will turn it all around.

“The guy is a quality player, he is so, so strong on the ball, it was ridiculous.

“At the minute he is probably just having a dip in form, players have them.

“He was not a talker or anything like that on the pitch, but he was a handful and I am sure he will be again before long.”

The praise for the midfielder was a long way from the initial reaction Courtney had after locking horns with him back in 2012.

In that game, a 2-0 win for the Toffees over the Lambs in the third round of the FA Cup, the Belgium star left his mark.

Speaking after that game Courtney said: “I was going to have to have words with him after – he took my ankle out twice.

“It was a tough battle between us, but I think once the nerves had died down I got into it more.

“I think that was the same for the whole team – I think we all showed them too much respect to begin with.”
