Everton FC are weighing up a move for Greece FIFA World Cup star Georgios Samaras, according to the Glasgow Evening Times.
Samaras left Celtic on a free transfer this summer after spending seven seasons in Scotland and scoring 74 league goals.
Roberto Martinez believes the big frontman would be a good addition to Everton’s forward line.
The 29-year-old scored the winning goal as Greece sealed a late 2-1 win over Ivory Coast on Wednesday to send them into the last 16 of a World Cup for the first time in their history.
Another World Cup star that the Blues could attempt to bring to Goodison Park is Ecuador forward Enner Valencia .
The 25-year-old has already scored three goals for Ecuador before the South Americans were eliminated from the competition last night and he currently plies his trade in Mexico, for Pachuca, where he has scored 18 goals in just six months.
Everton will have to beat off fierce competition for Valencia as a number of clubs have been alerted by his excellent form in Brazil.
The Blues have been dealt a blow in their bid to sign Sevilla centre back Fazio, reports TalkSport .
The 26-year-old was also tracked by Liverpool and Southampton but his team-mate Diego Perotti says that the Argentinian international should set his sights higher – and move to the Camp Nou.
Perotti told El Desmarque Radio: “I see him at Barcelona. Fede is going to be the best central defender in Europe. With his height and his way of playing he will be the best – nothing is missing for him to be a starter at Barcelona.”
Fazio signed for Sevilla in 2007 from Ferro Carril Oeste and has made over 100 appearances for the Spanish side.
