Everton FC have unveiled a new home strip for 2013/14 – which weighs just 150 grams!

The new Nike strip – 23 per cent lighter than previous Nike kits – features a royal blue body with a white collar and white hoops on the sleeves.

Dave Biggar, Everton’s commercial director, said: “Producing the Everton kit is a hugely important task .

“We hope the kit will prove to be as popular with our supporters as it was with Roberto Martinez and the players when they were given a preview and we are very much looking forward to a successful launch in the coming weeks.”

The Blues’ new home strip is made from recycled polyester in accordance with Nike’s commitment to a low environmental impact. The shirt and shorts of each kit are made from up to 13 recycled plastic water bottles.

This pioneering process sees bottles melted down to form yarn that is spun into recycled polyester, reducing energy consumption by up to 30% . Since 2010, Nike has diverted more than 1.1 billion plastic bottles from landfills through the use of recycled polyester.
