Everton FC juror Matthew Jones: Great to see Blues defence stand firm against Arsenal

AT any other stage of the campaign, draws at Arsenal and Tottenham would be considered excellent results.

But with us playing catch-up in the race for European football, both results represent points dropped against competitors for those elusive spots.

The draw at the Emirates probably signals the end of our Champions League charge, but there was much to admire about the performance.

Primarily, the fact we were able to genuinely match Arsenal for long spells. Gibson and Fellaini were able to exert a degree of authority on the midfield and dictate the pace of the game.

Even when we were under severe pressure in the latter stages, our defence stood firm. If we can put in similar defensive performances at Sunderland, Liverpool and Chelsea, we are more than capable of picking up at least a couple more victories on the road. If we can do that, well, who knows?

Everton FC juror David Taylor: Many things that make me so proud to be a Blue

THERE have been many things happening this past week to prove why I am so proud to be a Blue.

There was the football with an important win against the doomed QPR and a tireless performance at the Emirates.

We perhaps needed a little more quality in and around the box against Arsenal but a brilliant defensive attitude meant a potentially vital point was gained despite the air of a ‘must-win’ going into the game.

It was an exhausting match to watch as an Evertonian so the players must have been absolutely shattered!

There is then of course the consistent and genuine solidarity the club, it’s custodians and the supporters show to LFC in their continuing, and hopefully fruitful, battle for long overdue justice.

We certainly don’t need gratitude or the media plaudits – it’s what any decent club should do and that’s what we are.
