I HAVE often moaned and lamented about not playing 4-4-2 along with the 4-5-1 system, but I believe that Fellaini pushed further up has really helped our attacking potency.
Gibson does the holding job well, with Osman or Rodwell playing in the centre (even Neville), then Fellaini is allowed to concentrate more on attacking play and he also offers height in and around the box.
I think that might be the way forward.
Getting Pienaar back is a no-brainer. Also, I like Stracqualursi. People can talk about his lack of quality, but he scores goals, is difficult to play against and runs all day; this is infectious to teammates and has a real positive knock-on effect.
I hope Strac stays, as I do McFadden. He looked OK against Wolves and has something to prove.
As for Drenthe – just a waste of talent. As often happens, the most gifted aren’t the most sensible.

WE do need Steven Pienaar back in to give us the creativity required to lift the rest of the team and offer more in attack.
Tottenham, though, are another story. If reports are true, Pienaar MUST say he wants to come back to Everton to push it through.
Hopefully they won’t qualify for the Champions League meaning they will have to shed his wage bill – that’s if all goes well on the contracts etc.
