Everton FC have been handed a tricky assignment in the Europa League last 16 after been drawn to face Dynamo Kyiv.

The Blues welcome the Ukrainian league leaders to Goodison on Thursday, March 12 with the return leg seven days later.

Kiev, who came through a bad tempered last 32 clash with Guingamp 4-3 on aggregate, are managed by former Spurs striker Sergey Rebrov.

The Ukrainian side have won 11 and drawn three of their league games this season but have lost twice in the Europa League this term.

Next month’s first leg comes after a free weekend for the Blues but the visit of Newcastle United (KO 4pm) arrives three days later.

The second-leg – which will involve a 2,858-mile round trip – on March 19 is followed up by a trip to Queens Park Rangers that will now take place on Sunday, March 22.

The latest British Foreign Office advice on travel to Kiev says: “The situation in Kiev and western cities has calmed considerably following months of violent protest during which nearly 100 people were killed, although occasional non-violent public demonstrations continue in and around the Verkhovna Rada (parliament building) and elsewhere in the city.

“Be vigilant and monitor the media for information about possible safety or security risks.”
