*Everton FC analysis: Dave Prentice senses the end of an era at Goodison Park

EVERTON FC captain Phil Neville has labelled his performance in the shock FA Cup defeat to Wigan Athletic as ‘embarrassing’.

The 36-year-old says the 3-0 quarter-final loss was a “disaster” and the players must accept the criticism being levelled at them.

Neville’s stray back pass gifted Wigan their second goal as Everton conceded three times in just over three minutes on Saturday at Goodison Park.

The Blues skipper now hopes to see a positive reaction against Manchester City on Saturday.

“It was more than disappointing,” he said.

“It was a disastrous weekend for us.  It was a disastrous performance and there is no hiding away from that.

“I was embarrassed with my own performance, it wasn’t good enough as captain.

“We can’t hide from that.  We take our medicine now and take the criticism that comes our way.”
