Everton’s Nikica Jelavic celebrates sunderlands own goal after his shot during the FA Cup Sixth Round Replay

DARRON GIBSON has warned Liverpool FC that a wounded Everton FC will be ready to make amends for their derby humbling – after a rampant Blues booked their place at Wembley.

A first half strike from Nikica Jelavic and an own goal from David Vaughan at the Stadium of Light last night saw David Moyes’ men secure their passage into the FA Cup semi-final next month.

And January signing Gibson, who ensured the Blues midfield overwhelmed Sunderland, said the victory was testament to their preparation and desire to meet Kenny Dalglish’s side again at Wembley.

Moyes was criticised for resting six players ahead of the 3-0 defeat at Anfield, but Gibson said: “I was at the derby and it was disappointing. Now we’ve got to forget about that.

“It’ll be a different prospect for them, probably our strongest side. We’ve worked all week on our game plan and we came here and pulled it off, playing really well.

“The work we put in this week meant we knew exactly what everyone had to do, and it paid off from the back to the front.

“We made chances too, which was the main thing and Niki (Jelavic) took his goals well.”
