Graeme Sharp knows a thing or two about Merseyside derbies. The Everton legend made 30 of his 447 appearances for the Blues in the Merseyside derby and scored the Blues’ most famous derby goal, a stunning volley at Anfield in October ’84.

In our exclusive video, Sharp recounts what it’s like to take part in English football’s fiercest fixture, scoring that goal and what he expects on Saturday.

He said: “I don’t think either side are in a good run of form. Everton are conceding goals right left and centre. Liverpool are having to adjust to to post-Suarez. It’s a tight one.

“Hand on heart, I’d say Liverpool are favourites but Everton have to get their season up and running and hopefully it can be Saturday.”
