Blues skipper expected to be out for a couple of weeks

Everton’s captain Phil Jagielka

Phil Jagielka will miss Everton ’s match against West Ham United on Saturday– and England’s friendly against Denmark next week – due to a hamstring injury.

Blues boss Roberto Martinez confirmed this morning that Jagielka is expected to be sidelined for a couple of weeks.

The Catalan also said he expected to know more today on the extent of Lacina Traore ’s hamstring injury, with no word yet on whether the on-loan Monaco man will be out for weeks or months.

On Jagielka’s injury, Martinez said: “Phil’s felt his hamstring a little bit over the last two days. He’s going to be missing the game at the weekend and he’s going to be missing for England. I don’t think it’s going to be a long-term injury but Phil is going to be missing for a couple of weeks.”

On Traore, the Everton manager added:  “Today we’re going to find out what route we’re going down in terms of the best possible treatment. We’re going to decide what’s best to approach the injury.”
