‘He looked really old, I have to say. I said to Tim Howard: ‘No wonder Apollo Creed took him the distance!’
You could see he’d had a lot of plastic surgery done. I’ve seen him in films recently and he looks relatively young but that day I thought he looked really old.
‘After we met him, he went out on to the pitch and waved to the fans. They gave him an Everton scarf and although I’m not sure he knew exactly what was going on, I would have loved to have been in the crowd shouting “Rocky! Rocky!”
