Everton FC are in discussions with Samuel Eto’o about a move to Goodison Park, according to the Sunday People.
The newspaper claims the striker wants £100,000 a week – which would make him the Blues’ highest-paid player – but they face competition from the Middle East, with a Qatar club offering him £7m a year.
But Everton are now supposedly in pole position to land the forward – but only if the financial terms can be met will he make the move.
Elsewhere, a move for West Ham midfielder Mohamed Diame is set to be confirmed this month, Goal.com believes.
They have apparently made a £3.5m bid for the powerful Senegal man, who used to play under Roberto Martinez at Wigan.
The website claims Diame said his goodbyes to team-mates at the Hammers’ training ground last week before the deal hit a snag over personal terms, but the move is now expected to be pushed through.
And finally, the Toffees have been alerted to the availability of Danny Welbeck after Manchester United told him he can leave Old Trafford, the Telegraph says.
The newspaper claims despite spending £28m on Romelu Lukaku, Everton want another forward – and they are set to register an interest in Welbeck.
