Didn’t he do well?

Andros Townsend scored a cracking goal, Harry Kane came close a few times, Wayne Rooney hit the bar and Joe Hart didn’t have dandruff.

Man of the match for England in their 1-1 draw in Italy last night, however, was undoubtedly Phil Jagielka.

Well done @PJags06 – named YOUR #England Man of the Match against Italy! http://t.co/hXAoGWIYio pic.twitter.com/FUj8ghAK7X

If there’s one thing the ECHO sports desk excels in, it’s wondering what could be or what might have been.

Here’s some of the former, as Phil Kirkbride takes out his tarot cards and suggests what the Everton team could be in five years.

The best bit is, YOU can pick your own team too. Yes, YOU.

Arouna with a view to final flourish

Arouna Kone, it is widely accepted, has not had a good time with injuries during his near two seasons at Everton.

But now fit, the Ivorian is hoping matters pick up considerably during the final two months of this campaign.

“I do feel better in myself and my knee is a lot better,” says the striker.

“I wouldn’t say I’m absolutely 100% yet but everytime I play I get better and better each time.

“And that’s the aim now, finishing the season as strong as I can, get confident and try to get back to top form before the end of this season and then kick on with a good pre-season. I want to be on top form right from the off next season.”
