Rooney on Barkley

England's Harry Kane and Ross Barkley prepare to come on as substitutes against Lithuania England’s Harry Kane and Ross Barkley prepare to come on as substitutes against Lithuania

Wayne Rooney gave Ross Barkley a bell this week to talk over how the Everton man can get back to hitting the heights on a regular basis.

So, what was said?

Barkley: I’m a striker, me

In case you missed it, here’s Ross Barkley talking about where his best position is.

He reckons striker.

Young Blues destroy Galaxy

Ryan Ledson, Everton U21

Everton under-19s were in action yesterday in the Dallas Cup and earned a 3-0 win over LA Galaxy.

Skipper Ryan Ledson was among the goalscorers and the 17-year-old midfielder was encouraged by the performance.

“It’s a very good result for the lads and we needed it after the defeat (against River Plate) yesterday,” said the youngster.

“The coaches said we needed to get out of the blocks quickly and I thought we did that.

“I’ve scored a good goal as well which got us off to a good start. We spoke about the move in the meeting before the game.

“We didn’t think they would leave anyone on the edge of the box, and, obviously, Kieran (Dowell) has played it and I’ve come on the end of it – luckily enough it’s gone in.”

Doesn’t he look young?

The stats bods have been doing some digging in light of Wayne Rooney getting ever nearer becoming England’s record goalscorer.

And they’ve discovered there are some Everton legends who have a better goalscoring record for the Three Lions than the former Blue.

David Prentice will tell you who if you click here.

Ossie frustration

Everton’s Leon Osman

Leon Osman is determined to keep his place in the Everton side after revealing his disappointment at being left out earlier in the season.

“Having played in most games last season, I was disappointed not to play in more of the first 10 games this season,” says the Billinge-born midfielder.

“I was fit but was only selected in maybe four or five of them.

“That was a disappointing start to the season but I got myself back in the team, up until I got injured I’d figured in every game.”

Phil Kirkbride has more with the veteran here.
