Roberto Martinez

What must Roberto Martinez think about of the international break?

It’s not been easy for Everton this season but they do go into the international break in a slightly better mood after a morale boosting 2-1 win over QPR.

But there’s still lots of work to be done. So what must Roberto Martinez ponder over the international break?

Here’s Kristian Walsh with a few points.

  1. How safe are the Blues?
  2. Getting the best from Barkley
  3. Life without Lukaku and Kone
  4. Getting Garbutt onside

It’s all right here.

Well, March 23 was a successful day for Everton, with plenty of wins throughout history and Gareth Barry turning 34.

Unfortunately, March 24 isn’t as successful…

Barkley needs a proper break

Roberto Martinez has told Phil Kirkbride that Ross Barkley SHOULD NOT play for England U21s in the European Championships this summer – because he thinks the youngster needs a well earned break.

And Martinez also reckons the “old Ross” is starting to reappear for the Toffees in recent weeks.

“What Ross brings is the bigger the occasion, the bigger the performance and bigger the response,” Martinez said.

“What was pleasing last Thursday night was to see the ‘old’ Ross getting away from people, being so threatening with his forward pass and getting his shot away with either foot.

“He hit the post with his left foot and with his right foot. I loved seeing the signs of the old Ross appearing.”
