Everton could be set for a move for Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski, according to reports today.
The German forward has been on-loan at Inter Milan, but is said to have failed to convince Inter boss Roberto Mancini that he should remain at the San Siro for the long term.
Instead, it is reported that Podolski could stay in the Premier League, with Goodison Park his preferred destination.
Galatasaray are also mentioned as a potential destination, but it is believed that the 30-year-old would prefer to remain in England – handing Everton a significant advantage.
Podolski has scored just once in 17 appearances for Inter, but he managed 31 goals in 82 games for the Gunners after signing for them in 2012 from FC Koln.
Gerard Deulofeu could be on his way back to Goodison Park, but no deal is yet agreed – that’s being reported by Spanish press this morning.
There were widespread reports at the weekend that Deulofeu could return to Everton for as little as £3m, but Catalan newspaper Ara reports that the price could be significantly more than that.
They report that former Barcelona director of football Josep Maria Bartomeu met with Roberto Martinez a month ago to thrash out the transfer and an agreement was reached – but there’s still work to do before it becomes official.
Deulofeu is loved by Everton fans after scoring four goals in 29 appearances while on loan at Goodison Park in 2013/14.
And finally, Everton have been linked with a move for Jordan Ayew, younger brother of recent Swansea signing Andre Ayew.
The winger has scored 12 goals in 29 games for Lorient this season, and is now being touted for the Premier League by his agent, Mark McKay.
“Jordan has age and talent on his side,” he said.
“He’s a versatile forward who is quick and gets goals. I took Diafra Sakho to West Ham last season and I rate Jordan in the same bracket. He can have a big impact in England.”
