Brendan Galloway says making his Everton FC debut is “what dreams are made of”.

The 19-year-old defender was picked at left-back for the Blues game with West Ham United today and helped Roberto Martinez’s side to a 2-1 win.

Galloway, who joined Everton from MK Dons last summer, was being primed for a promotion from the under-21s to the first-team in time for next season.

But Martinez decided to hand the teenager his Premier League bow this afternoon at Upton Park and was thrilled by his performance.

Galloway only found out about his selection 90 minutes before (Free £25 bet offer) Kick-off but believes the call-up was reward for his efforts with the second string this term.

“I’ve worked hard all season and to get rewarded like this is what dreams are made of,” Galloway said.

“I found out at 1.30pm when the manager named the team. I wasn’t expecting it.

“I worked hard in training this week but I didn’t expect to be given the nod, but when I did I was really happy and looking forward to it.

“I thought the team did really well. It was important to get the win and to do it at the end made it more special.”

Galloway played in behind Leon Osman on the left and had captain Phil Jagielka inside of him at centre-half.

And the teenager says both players helped guide him through the biggest moment of his career.
“[Jagielka] played a massive role, as he was always talking to me and I thought the whole team helped,” Galloway said.

“Ossie did down the left-hand side. I thought we had a good partnership and he helped out defensively and offensively as well.
“I train with these guys and they talked to me beforehand so I knew what to expect. I don’t think I was shocked but they helped me perform well.”
