SIMON MIGNOLET. Didn’t have a save of note to make until Everton started to throw bodies forward during the closing moments. 7
EMRE CAN. Liverpool’s man of the match. Wasn’t intimidated by the power of Lukaku or the pace of Mirallas, this was another fine display. 8
MARTIN SKRTEL. Impressed alongside his fellow central defenders who offered Mignolet plenty of protection. 7
MAMADOU SAKHO. Given some early problems by Mirallas but soon had the measure of the Belgian. 7
JORDON IBE. An excellent show from the youngster handed a shock derby debut, his direct nature surprised Everton and came so close to scoring. 7
JORDAN HENDERSON. Plugged away in midfield but, like so many other players, found his efforts largely nullified. 6
LUCAS LEIVA. The game was barely a quarter-of-an-hour old when the Brazilian was forced off with a recurrence of a thigh problem.
ALBERTO MORENO. Kept busy by Seamus Coleman down the Everton right, the Spaniard saw his forward forays curtailed in the second half. 6
STEVEN GERRARD. Clearly desperate to make his mark, the Reds skipper had some half-chances but couldn’t quite stamp his authority. 6
PHILIPPE COUTINHO. Showed some good touches but, despite being clobbered in the first half, it was still a surprise to see him replaced. 7
RAHEEM STERLING. Lively early on but then found himself hounded out by the sheer weight of numbers in the Everton defence. 6
JOE ALLEN (for Lucas 16). On for the stricken Lucas, he proved durable and kept Liverpool’s midfield ticking over. 7
DANIEL STURRIDGE (for Coutinho 56). Didn’t make quite the impact as against West Ham and Bolton in the last week. 6
RICKIE LAMERT (for Sterling 82). Had a couple of shots during a brief cameo
Subs not used: Ward, Johnson, Lovren, Lambert, Markovic.
